“Never fear quarrels, but seek hazardous adventures.”
Ravi de faire votre connaissance!
Welcome to 17th-century Paris, where the air is thick with intrigue, politics, and swordplay! The streets are lined with grand buildings, from the stunning Palace of Versailles to the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral. But beneath the glitz and glamour of the city lies a darker underbelly, filled with scheming nobles, ambitious musketeers, and ruthless duellists.
As you prepare to take your first turn in the game, it's important to remember that Paris is a city where reputation is everything. Whether you're a noble seeking political power, a musketeer seeking glory on the battlefield, or a duellist seeking fame and fortune, your actions and decisions will have a lasting impact on how others view you.
As you move through the streets of Paris, keep a close eye on your surroundings. Danger lurks around every corner, whether in the form of rival duellists seeking to challenge your honor or thieves and cutthroats looking to make a quick score. But with danger comes opportunity!
Remember, your actions will have consequences in this world of swordplay and intrigue. Make your moves carefully, and always keep one hand on your blade. The game of Engarde! It has only just begun - may the best duellist win!
Sincerely,
Maître fou
Introduce your character and banter in comments or chat. April 1648 is the first turn; You have until May 10th,2023, to post that turn. We’ll go three turns and review, discuss, and hopefully, another season of turns!
I’ll like to put a soft player limit of 10. The hard limit for the first 3 turns at 15. We’ll stumble through a turn-flow as we go. I’ll use some DIY software to help me on the facilitator side of things. Mind your dice; you are on your honour!

This is all experimental. It might fail horridly! Have fun with it and be comfortable with change. I’m interested in a few things in facilitating this. How does the newsletter(substack) medium fit the PBP model? What are the main things that make En Garde tick?
And, of course… Is Play-by-Post dead?
À la prochaine.
